Gothic, mystical, and the somewhat odd : I have always had an interest in "spooky" imagery--nothing too heavy, but the drama of night, stars, moon, and symbolic images. I am working on a series of these images, the first of which was my "Dark Angels" which I did as part of the Mural Mosaic project of 2008 http://www.muralmosaic.com/Cadeau.html Mine is in the bottom row, sixth from the left. I plan to continue with this type of imagery as I get time, so check in every so often to see more. Other images in this gallery are some of my less usual or mildly strange ones, that are a little out of my "normal". Whatever that is.

Wolves : All the wolves featured in these photos are residents at Wolf Echo Valley,www.wolfechovalley.com, a wolf and ecology educational centre located near McDowall Saskatchewan, and operated by Skylar Breton, who has kindly given me access to her pack for photos.

Custom work examples : I have spent a lot of time, effort and endless frustration in getting a bit of a handle on reworking images in Photoshop. As a result of this, I can do entirely new creations based on my photo collections. This gallery features some of the custom works I have done for clients and/or as demo pieces. I like to add text elements (such as words, maps, scans of pedigrees, etc) in the photomontages that feature a specific horse or dog. Others show various aspects of the human/animal partnership, yet others are more fanciful or along the lines of "personal inspirational" works. I am always willing to discuss the creation of a meaningful custom art photograph with clients.

Photomontage art images : I'm never sure where merged images leave off and photomontages take over, so I'm putting both categories together into this gallery. In my definition, photomontages have a lot more independent elements that have been put together to create a new concept, and are more complex than merges, which tend to involve fewer input images in which the original photo or photos still predominate. You will find examples of both of these types of image manipulation in some of the other galleries as well.

Landscapes and trees : Although I am mostly an animal (chiefly horses and dogs, at that) photographer, I do inevitably spend quite a lot of time wandering around in nature. I have come to appreciate subject matter that you don't have to sneak up on, or worry about it either charging in too close, or spooking off into the distance.

Horses close crops : Getting up close and personal is one of my favoured techniques in horse photography. We don't need to see the whole horse to understand what we are seeing in these images, and the selected parts that are featured can work in an abstract way as we view them.

Birds : Birds are always fascinating in their wide variety of species, habits and body types. This gallery features a mix of wild and domestic birds.

Dogs and cats : Dogs and cats share our daily lives and offer numerous opportunities for the photographer to capture and interpret their many and various sizes, shapes and activities. I've been a dog owner forever and have shared my world with cats for several decades. I can be contacted for custom photo shoots of dogs and/or cats (outdoors shots) in Saskatoon and area.

Nature details and flowers : This gallery features the color and pattern of the small details of nature.

Western : I am a dressage rider, but the visuals of the western lifestyle and the working cowboy and cowgirl are favourite subjects for photography. I have been fortunate in the last couple of years to have met a number of classic western trainers and working cowboys/girls who have been generous in allowing me and my camera access to their world. Wildlife and rescue : Some of the birds and animals in this gallery are ones that have been saved by WRSOS (Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan). 50% of all sales of these images will be donated to WRSOS, www.wrsos.org . Others are native Saskatchewan species that I have encountered elsewhere. Same deal for donation to wildlife rehab from the purchase of these images as well.

Horses in general : This gallery is a mixed bag of horse photos with no particular theme other than they are all horses.

Horses in groups : Horses in groups fascinate me. I can spend a lot of time watching how they interact with each other and their environments, learning about them as individuals and about basic "horse psychology" and herd structure as I do so.

Heavy horses : Everyone, myself included, seems to have an appreciation for the heavy horse, or draft, breeds. There is a quiet impressiveness about the strength, calm nature, work ethic, and power of the "big boys". And girls.

Other animals : This gallery is home for images of various (and often quite unrelated) species that I have photographed.

War ponies : War ponies are one of my many on-going interests in my photography/Photoshop work. I enjoy taking a "regular" horse and giving it a new identity as a war pony, compete with paint, trappings and paraphernalia.

Mixed media : In addition to my ongoing photo endeavors, I occasionally indulge in one of a kind mixed media collages, often featuring photo elements in addition to art papers and paints. This gallery shows a number of the possibilities for this type of work. Most of the works in these galleries were custom orders for clients, featuring their own animals, although the "Alpac" and "Oscar and Mickey" ones feature my own animals. "War Pony's World", "Legacy" and "Crow's World" are available for sale.

Ghost horses : One of the things that Photoshop allows me to do is to indulge my fantasy of making "ghost" horses. I like the images I can create this way, and also the thoughts and musings that these visuals can inspire. What was it about the life of these horses that has caused them to linger on in their environments, and what stories do they share?

Farrier : The farrier is a fixture at most boarding stables, such as the one where I keep my horse. I've taken advantage of regular access to these visuals to work on a collection of farrier and horse shots.
